  • Description

This focused theory course is designed to build your confidence in recognising and managing complex immune-mediated conditions in practice. Through case-based learning we’ll consider building diagnoses and initiating effective treatment in immune-mediated diseases.  We will also discuss the rational for considering underlying triggers of immune-mediated disease and investigate what the available literature suggests.

Whether you’re looking to refresh your knowledge or deepen your clinical decision-making, this course will help build your confidence, stay current with evolving treatment strategies and gain valuable, applicable insights for everyday veterinary work.

    Topics to be covered:

    • Immunosuppressive medication drugs: new options and old friends
    • IMHA: what constitutes a robust diagnosis or a ropey one?  When to transfuse?  When to start a second agent?
    • IMPA: how to spot IMPA.  Definitive diagnosis, and when to probe further
    • ITP: what does expert opinion say on diagnosis and treatment?
    • C reactive protein use and abuse
