  • Description

In this one-day confidence‑building course, you’ll learn how to manage acute and life‑threatening emergencies using the simple, systematic C‑ABcDE algorithm. We’ll cover everything from the moment a distressed owner calls about a blocked airway or road traffic accident, to rapid triage in a crowded waiting room, to stabilisation and treatment of the most common critical presentations.

The course will explore how to organise condition‑specific emergency kits, ask the right questions over the phone, prioritise effectively when multiple crises hit at once and maintain calm, structured teamwork even in chaotic situations. This approach enhances treatment quality, improves patient outcomes and supports staff wellbeing. You’ll also receive printed step‑by‑step handouts of the C‑ABcDE workflow, making immediate implementation in clinical practice straightforward.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • Preparation of emergency kit
    • Emergency triage - In clinic and over the phone
    • Using the C-ABcDE algorithm
    • Stabilisation and treatment in emergency situations
