  • Description

This course delves into holistic nursing techniques for veterinary nurses, appreciating patients as individuals with specific needs. Through appraisal and adaptation of techniques used within the NHS, veterinary nurses will be empowered to leverage their knowledge and expertise to run an effective inpatient unit, advocate for their patients and promote patient safety.

Delegates will have the opportunity to build confidence in the early detection of deteriorating patients, develop communication skills for effective interdisciplinary collaboration, and gain a clear understanding of how holistic care can optimise patient outcomes and enhance professional growth.

By the end of the course, veterinary nurses will be equipped with the skills and confidence to nurse their patients holistically, providing evidence based and compassionate care to support their patients, their team, the business and the veterinary nursing profession.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • How and why using a One Health approach improves patient care
    • Holistic nursing - what is it and is it relevant to our patients?
    • Implementing nursing care plans and care bundles with veterinary patients - how can these tools support clinical outcomes?
    • Communication skills - why effective communication is the key to inpatient care
    • Time management while on the ward shift
    • Early detection of the deteriorating patient
