Many pet owners are often unaware of the drug licensing legislation within veterinary medicine and have all too many times ‘popped in’ to grab that POM-VPS that their pet has run out of two days ago. But where does that leave the frontline team? Are receptionists and nurses able to pass over that ‘normal’ worming tablet? Or that regular long-standing medication that the dog has been on ‘for years’?
Under RCVS guidelines veterinary surgeons must be satisfied that the person handing over medication to clients is competent to do so and this AMTRA accredited course, will not only look at the regulations governing the dispensing of medications, including delegation to team members within the practice, but it will also provide training in safe dispensing protocols.
In these busy times, mistakes can easily happen, and these can be potentially catastrophic. This learning series with Nicola Lakeman will provide discussion on the prevention of these mistakes and information on pharmacovigilance to enable you to return to practice with protocols to implement straight away.
