  • Description

Appropriate physiotherapeutic intervention and rehabilitation techniques can greatly enhance outcomes in recovery following surgery or injury and assist in returning patients to normal function. This course will look at the role of electrotherapies and manual therapies in optimising tissue healing with reference to both orthopaedic and neurological cases. A combination of theory and practical sessions will be used to explore a range of electrotherapeutic and manual interventions and techniques.

The theoretical component of this course aims to review the processes involved in tissue healing and explore the principles and clinical reasoning basis for selecting appropriate interventions. Part of the course will consist of practical sessions allowing the opportunity to practice the techniques discussed in the lecture.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • Tissue healing recap
    • Enhancing tissue healing through the use of electrotherapies such as therapeutic ultrasound and LASER
    • Enhancing tissue healing through the use of manual therapies such as massage, stretching and fascial release
    • Addressing maladaptive healing and scar tissue formation in chronic disease using electrotherapies and manual therapy
    • Case discussions

*Free Learning Series of your choice when bringing a medium-sized/big dog to the course for some non-invasive practical demonstrations*
