Canine Behaviour: Dealing with Post-COVID Problems

This learning series with Miri Prior will provide confidence in your approach to many canine behaviour problems presenting in general practice. Canine behaviour concerns have sky-rocketed in recent years and clients will commonly approach their vet as the first port of call when something goes seriously wrong. The field of veterinary behavioural medicine is also rapidly advancing with new medications and evidence for specific behaviour modification protocols emerging.

More than 3 million UK households acquired a pet in the coronavirus pandemic. A combination of owner inexperience, over-zealous breeding and lack of socialisation has created a population of dogs displaying aggression in response to other dogs/humans/the vet, many struggling when left home alone, and an increased prevalence of dogs suffering with high arousal levels, poor basic training, and generalised anxiety.

This course will explore a range of presentations in detail and give you some tips to manage “reactivity and aggression” and “separation anxiety” as well as making the “challenging” patient in the clinic a little bit easier to manage.
