Description
We'll discuss the advantages and disadvantages of minimally invasive procedures and there will be a brief overview of instrumentation and instrument handling techniques, followed by a more detailed discussion of laparoscopic principles, the approach to the abdomen and laparoscopic organ biopsies.
On day two, we'll cover the use of electrosurgery and other haemostatic techniques in minimally invasive surgery, followed by detailed instruction on laparoscopic ovariectomy and ovariohysterectomy.
Topics to be covered include:
- Detailed explanation and examination of instrumentation
- Minimally invasive surgery in general practice - profitability
- Practical skills tests using laparoscopic trainers
- Cadaver practical sessions including approach to the abdomen, exploratory laparoscopy, organ biopsies, laparoscopic ovariectomy and ovariohysterectomy.
