Senior Animal Health Inspector at City of London Animal Health & Welfare Services
Sharon joined the City of London’s Heathrow Animal Reception Centre in 1987, specialising in the import of both domestic and exotic species. In 2004, after qualifying in Animal Health and Legal Practices through the Chartered Trading Standards Institute she transferred to the City of London’s Animal Health & Welfare Services Team contracting both legal and husbandry Animal Health expertise to Local Authorities.
Since January 2012 her team has seen an approximate rise of 400% in the reporting of, and investigation of illegally imported dogs into Greater London, of which these are mainly puppies from Eastern Europe.
Sharon is a member of PAAG (the Pet Advertising Advisory Group) promoting responsible pet advertising. She Vice-Chair of the Kennel Club Assured Breeders subgroup and also Vice-Chair of the Trading Standards South East Regional Animal Health & Welfare Panel.
Sharon also sits on the Local Government Animal Welfare Group Committee and has sat on the working groups on the recent review of the guidelines for the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) England Regulations 2018.
