Head Vet and Manager
Sean qualified as a vet from University College Dublin after first studying an undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Essex. He started his veterinary career working in a domestic, exotics and zoo practice in Kent, followed by two domestic and exotic pet practices in West London. He set up his own dedicated exotic pets service in his last clinical role, with a heavy caseload of reptiles and birds.
Having studied Animal Science in Essex before his Veterinary degree, he has a broad base of knowledge in anatomy and physiology of a wide range of animal species. He also has a wide knowledge of animal production and husbandry, wildlife conservation, animal behaviour, zoology and ecology as well as veterinary medicine.
During vet school he completed zoo medicine elective modules, with placement at Dublin zoo and over the years has kept and bred a huge variety of reptiles, amphibians and other exotic pets.
In 2016 Sean left first opinion clinical practice and now works as Head Vet and Manager, Veterinary Affairs for bespoke pet nutrition brand, tails.com. He regularly lectures on exotics medicine, animal husbandry and nutrition topics. In his spare time he grows food and keeps chickens on his allotment whilst also running a local wildlife conservation group in London, Ealing Wildlife Group.
