Veterinary Radiographer, VNA Administrator - Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Royal Veterinary College
I graduated from the RVC in 2010 with a Foundation Degree in Veterinary Nursing, after which I began working at a Small Animal Hospital in Dorset, becoming involved in both digital radiography and MRI studies. In 2011 I was invited to return to the busy mixed practice I had initially undertaken my training placements at, in a role that involved taking on management and maintenance of the practice’s computer systems and diagnostic imaging equipment alongside my nursing duties. I was keen to further my knowledge and nursing abilities, so enrolled on the RVC’s Graduate Diploma in Clinical and Professional Veterinary Nursing 2012, opting to undertake the Surgical Nursing and Diagnostic Imaging modules, before graduating in 2015. During this time I also built a rudimentary PACS for the practice that allowed storage and retrieval of digital images.
In 2016 I returned to the RVC as a staff member, working as a Veterinary Radiographer in the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. In addition to my clinical role, I am also System Administrator for the RVC’s Vendor Neutral Archive, managing the central imaging database and over 80 connected DICOM entities across 3 hospitals. In 2020 I completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Education at the RVC, and hope to undertake the Veterinary Technician Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging Certification in the near future.
