An extensive and evidence-based learning series containing sixteen videos with specialist lecturers, combining two in-depth learning series designed to help veterinary professionals build confidence in advising clients on a range of nutritional strategies, as outlined below:
Holistic Nutrition: Navigating Novel Diets and Plant-Based Options Series:
Treating our patients holistically has become more vital than ever as client expectations and values evolve, with nutrition playing a significant role. Some clients are considering ‘alternative’ or plant-based foods, whether for health, ethical or environmental reasons. This learning series with Mike Davies provides knowledge to be able to confidently discuss with clients what diets are appropriate for our patients’ well-being, and in what circumstances it is safe to deviate from the more traditional offerings. Through theory-based sessions, basic nutrition is revised, including how to calculate nutritional requirements for individual patients, before exploring specific novel diet choices and when and how these can be introduced to patients to provide a safe and balanced diet.
The Role of Nutrition in Management of Common Medical Conditions Series:
Nutrition can be easily overlooked when formulating treatment plans for our patients, with the focus often being on pharmacological intervention and other supportive care measures, but it can and should play a fundamental role in the management of most medical conditions, whether it is to support the recovery of acutely ill patients, or for the long term management of chronic conditions. This learning series, with Florence Vessieres, reviews the current scientific evidence and nutritional recommendations for some of the most common canine and feline medical conditions so that you can apply these principles in your daily practice and see the difference incorporating nutritional therapy can have on your patients.
