  • Description

This highly practical two‑day workshop is designed for veterinary surgeons who are new to laparoscopic surgery and want structured, hands‑on experience with core minimally invasive techniques. You’ll be introduced to essential laparoscopic principles, instrumentation and setup, then guided through key procedural skills in a wet‑lab environment.

The course focuses on laparoscopic bitch spay - one of the most common and clinically useful minimally invasive procedures - and builds your confidence in patient preparation, instrument handling, safe tissue manipulation and laparoscopic suturing techniques. You will also explore additional basic laparoscopic techniques that support broader application of minimally invasive surgery in routine practice.

Under expert supervision, you’ll practise structured laparoscopic access and improve your coordination and efficiency using laparoscopic tools, helping you apply these skills safely and confidently in your clinical cases.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • Introduction to laparoscopic equipment, setup and safety
    • Principles of minimally invasive surgery
    • Laparoscopic access and port placement
    • Practical technique for laparoscopic ovariectomy and ovariohysterectomy
    • Basic laparoscopic tissue handling and dissection
    • Internal laparoscopic suturing and knot tying
    • Troubleshooting common laparoscopic challenges
    • Applying laparoscopic skills to additional basic procedures
