Description
This practical course is designed for veterinary surgeons who are already confident performing abdominal ultrasound in practice and are ready to develop their skills further. Through a combination of hands-on scanning, case-based learning and individual guidance in a small-group setting, you will build confidence in assessing more challenging abdominal structures and refining your ultrasound technique. You will explore methods for identifying the pancreas, adrenal glands, peritoneum and medial iliac lymph nodes, while also gaining practical experience in the use of Doppler for examining larger blood vessels. By working through relevant clinical examples, you will have the opportunity to consolidate your knowledge and improve your confidence in performing and interpreting more advanced abdominal ultrasound examinations.
Topics to be covered include:
- Performing and interpreting ultrasonographic examination of the right limb and body of the pancreas
- Performing and interpreting ultrasonographic examination of both adrenal glands and the peritoneum
- Identification of the medial iliac lymph nodes
- Basic techniques for the identification of portosystemic shunts
- Basic approaches for the identification of large blood vessel thrombi
- Practical use of Doppler when assessing larger abdominal blood vessels
- Case-based review to support interpretation and clinical application
