Steve Butterworth graduated from Cambridge Vet school in 1986. Before establishing Weighbridge Referral Centre Steve worked as a house surgeon, in general practice and then as a lecturer in surgery at Bristol Vet School for six years.
During this time he gained Royal College Certificates in Veterinary Radiology & Small Animal Orthopaedics. He then went on to gain the RCVS diploma in small Animal Orthopaedics in 1992. This taken together with publication of several peer-reviewed scientific papers and innumerable presentations at veterinary conferences, allowed him to become an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 1995. He is currently one of only 40 (taken from the RCVS Register, December 2016) to hold this recognised status in the whole of the United Kingdom.
Steve has served on BSAVA Committees, as an examiner for both the RCVS & Bristol University & has chaired the BVOA. Over more than 20 years he has gained extensive experience in orthopaedic and spinal surgery and has become an internationally recognised speaker in the field.
