Tom Standen

Tom graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and beginning his career in mixed practice in rural Kent. Since 2015, Tom has worked in a variety of dedicated small animal practices and hospitals in the South East and has been the Lead Veterinary Surgeon of a small animal hospital since 2023.

Whilst performing a general practitioner role, Tom has a particular interest in Dentistry and Oro-facial surgery and was awarded a certificate in Small Animal Veterinary Dentistry in 2021. Tom spends the majority of his clinical time performing routine dentistry and advanced procedures such as orthodontics, facial tumour investigations and root canal procedures. Additionally, his strong interest in anaesthesia and analgesia compliments his surgical interest.

Tom has a strong teaching background and has roles as VetGDP advisor supporting newly graduated vets and Regional Dentistry Vet supporting general practitioners and developing their capability and confidence in dentistry. Tom has been a board member of the BVDA since 2024 and regularly contributes to advancing policy and protocols within his own practice and further afield.
