Dr. Sarah Stewart is originally from British Columbia (Canada), and received her D.V.M. Degree with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008. She completed her rotating internship at NYC Veterinary Specialists, followed by an internal medicine residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City from 2009-2012 where she spent extensive time on the hospital’s dedicated Renal Medicine service.
After three years in private specialty practice in San Francisco she relocated to the UK and spent six years at the Royal Veterinary College as a Lecturer in Internal Medicine & Oncology, splitting her time equally between both services. During her time at the RVC she was the co-chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Group and gained hands-on expertise in the clinical approach to antimicrobial resistance.
Since 2023 Sarah has been working as a locum consultant in both oncology and internal medicine, working within the UK and internationally at specialty private practices and universities including Texas A&M University, Louisiana State University and Massey University. She is also a Teleoncology
Consultant for VetOracle and Editor in Chief of the journal Topics in Companion Animal Medicine, and spent 10 years as a Urology & Nephrology Consultant for VIN.
Her areas of special interest include round cell tumours, urothelial neoplasms, gastroenterology, urology/nephrology, feline geriatric medicine and antimicrobial stewardship.
Outside of veterinary medicine she is a certified sake and wine educator and enjoys teaching classes on wine, sake and cheese tasting at West London Wine School and judging sake at the International Wine Challenge competition.
