  • Description

Veterinary nurses play a vital role in supporting reproductive care in veterinary practice - from client education to emergency interventions and neonatal support. This one-day course is designed to give you the tools, insight, and confidence to handle every stage of the reproductive process with competence.

You’ll refresh your understanding of reproductive anatomy and physiology, learn to identify normal and abnormal pregnancy and parturition signs, and explore your critical role in emergency situations such as dystocia, caesarean sections, pyometra, and postpartum complications. Special focus is given to neonatal care - from immediate post-delivery to early life support - including feeding protocols, ECC principles, and hand-rearing techniques.

By the end of the course, you'll be equipped to support in critical situations, educate clients clearly, and deliver high-quality nursing care to reproductive and neonatal patients.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • Reproductive anatomy and cycles refresher
    • Ethical considerations in breeding
    • Pregnancy and whelping/queening
    • Dystocia, caesarean sections, and reproductive complications
    • Neonatal nursing: thermoregulation, nutrition, and early intervention
    • ECC stabilisation and hand-rearing techniques for neonates
