  • Description

This two-day highly practical course is aimed at vets in general practice who are already comfortable and competent with general abdominal ultrasound and would like to take their skills to the next level.

You'll learn how to perform a more thorough ultrasound examination of the abdomen, including the peritoneum, lymph nodes, adrenal glands and the pancreas and the changes that may be seen in the diseased state.

There will be an introduction to imaging the greater abdominal vessels using B mode and Doppler, as well as indications and techniques for performing ultrasound-guided biopsies.

To get the most from this advanced course you should already feel comfortable finding and examining the major abdominal organs with the ultrasound probe. This should include the liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidneys and bladder. If more practise is needed in these areas we welcome you to our standard Practical Abdominal Ultrasound course where we cater for beginner to intermediate skills.

This course includes resident support to assist with scanning practise and provide additional guidance during hands-on sessions.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • The full abdominal ultrasound, including peritoneum and lymph nodes
    • Further examination of the gastrointestinal tract
    • Locating the normal pancreas and the adrenals
    • Examining the great abdominal vessels using B-mode and Doppler ultrasound
    • How and what to take as biopsies

**Delegates who attend with a suitable dog(s) will receive a financial incentive. After completing your booking, please contact us at enquiries@centralcpd.co.uk to confirm your intention to bring a dog.**

Excellent CPD day. Really interesting, and I love having written notes (in colour too - thank you!). All ran to time and the food was great too. I'll be back for another course soon!

    Mia Pring

Really good source for CPD, the speaker was very knowledgeable and taught us well and the practical sessions were great. Plenty of opportunity for all to take part and achieve what they wanted from the experience.

    Ellie Moreton

Fantastic practical courses with extremely knowledgeable and approachable instructors providing valuable hands-on experience. Well organised, engaging, and extremely useful for building confidence in clinical skills. Highly recommend!
